Hi,

It would be extremely rare for mrsa to get into the blood stream at all. It usually spreads through soft tissue and not through blood. Maybe in a severely immuno compromised child it could but I have never had a child with mrsa sepsis.
It should be pretty easy to cure with bactroban or altabax and an oral antibiotic such as bactrim or clindamicin.
If you don't have those medicines then I would try to get them.

the outside sore is pretty much gone. the sore on the inside is much much better now.

i don't have the oral antibiotics just the bactroban.

do i need to take him to the dr for oral antibiotics if the inside sore is gone by monday?

i assume i don't need to.

thanks for all your help on this. everything seems to happen during the holidays when it's hard to get to the dr

Hi,

If it is better now then you don't need the orals. In the future I would use orals with the bactroban or use altabax ointment instead. There is some resistance to bactroban.
