I had a tubal ligation surgery in 10/00 when I was 23 my daughter was 2months old. I had had no problems with the surgery itself. There was very little recovery time with my surgery, the most painful part of my surgery was the GAS!! Mine settled in my left arm, heck I thought he tied the nerves in my arm instead of in my belly!! It only lasted a day or so, and it wasnt really painful, just sore in my arm, like I had been weight lifting??? But problems I am having now are depression(I think). I think I am having bouts of hormone problems, and I wonder if it is from having the procedure at such a young age. I wish I would have done some more research on having it done at 23, but at the time, I just did not want any more children after a heck of a pregnancy with my daughter!!

I think some of the gas comes from the anesthia. My kids when they have had surgeries and they have had their share (DD has had 8, DS has had 3), they always seem to have bad gas too.

I have not had my tubes tied so I am no help there.

YES, IT IS VERY POSSIBLE TO GET PREGNANT AFTER YOUR TUBES ARE TIED. I HAVE HAD 2 C-SECTIONS AND ON MY SECOND MY TUBES WERE TIED THAT DAY AFTER THE BABY WAS REMOVED AND WE ARE EXEPTING OUR 3RD BABY AUG. 9TH 2004. MY DR. TOLD ME THAT MY TUBES GREW BACK. I WAS UP AND MOVING THE DAY OF MY SURGERY. I THINK IT JUST DEPENDS ON THE PERSON. asmith@altamontks.com

I've been searching the web all night, but I can't find the information I am looking for.

I am currently 18 and am absolutely certain I do not want children because the medical history on both sides of my family almost guarantees any offspring of mine is bound to have something, among other reasons. I always figured if I wanted a child, I would adopt after long, hard consideration.

yea, so my question is if it is possible for someone in my position to get tubal ligation done? If anyone has any information to offer me on this, email me at inuyatta@yahoo.com, and put something related to this topic in the title of the email. thank you!

Please re-post this under Ask the Doctor: Pediatric Questions. I believe you are still young enough that you would fall into Dr. B's realm.
I'm not sure you will find a doctor that will perform this procedure at your age unless it could be proven life threatening to you.
But again, please re-post under Pediatric Questions for a more definitive answer.

i hear alot of tubaligation stories...how easy it is to get it done. My suggestion is if you're still young, think about it. I mean, really think about it. Are you sure you don't see yourself wanting another child?
I had my tubes tied when i was 22 years old.I am now 32 and find myself wanting another baby. If i could, I would. There are alot of birth control options out there. My suggestion is ....THINK LONG AND HARD!!!!

I am going into surgery on the 28th this month to have my tubes tied. My daughter is already 2 weeks old. I was wondering if anyone knows why my dr. wanted to wait to do the surgery instead of doing it right after my baby was born?!?! Also can someone who has had a tubal let me know what to expect???
